Bidens 'Goldilocks Rocks' submitted by Proven Winners held up against the heat all summer long. It made a big impact in combination with Lantana 'Citrus Blend'. While other plants struggled to establish due to unusually high temperatures and minimal rain, "Goldilocks Rocks' grew into a beautiful, healthy plant. Performs well planted in the ground and container.

'Snow Princess' has proven to be a great performer three years in a row. It is tolerant of very hot and drought conditions. It can be used in a container, hanging basket, or landscape as shown in the picture. It is very fragrant and requires minimal maintenance.

All of the SunPatiens varieties performed very well in our trials this summer. They bloomed all summer long and held up well against the unusually hot and dry summer. Japenese Beetles do like SunPatiens and will cause some damage to the foliage.

Torenia is a great genus that can tolerate humid conditions and performs well in full sun to partial shade. They are self cleaning, vigorous, and flowers all summer long. With the outbreak of Downy Mildew on Impatiens, Torenia could be used as a substitute.

We had four Gomphrena entries this year, and all proved to be great performers. "EZ Gro Gomp Purple' was especially admired in the garden by visitors and the Goldfinch! It grows best in mass and blooms all summer. After summer has ended, this plant can be dried and will hold its color for years.

This Gomphrena sublitted by Benary was also a great performer in the trials this year. It is a prolific bloomer, and although not as vibrant as the purple varieties it looks great in combination with bright yellows and blues.

Lobularia "Blushing Princess' - Proven Winners

Lobularia 'Blushing Princess' was a nice addition to the trials. It is a great performer just like 'Snow Princess' being very heat tolerant and drought tolerant once established. It is fragrant and can be used in the landscape, containers, and hanging baskets.

'Jade Princess' was a favorite among our staff and visitors. Its unusual flower and chartreuse foliage is a great textual addition to any landscape. Once the flower has matured, its smells like molasses.

'Vista Fuchsia' was on of the best petunias grown in the landscape this year. It's a little more compact than 'Vista Bubblegum' and 'Vista Silverberry', and its color is an attention grabber. It would look great grown in the landscape and containers.
